The Tatra Mountains
are fascinating, however, for an inexperienced tourist they can also be
dangerous. Are you one of those who prefer to admire rocky edges from afar? If
yes, it does not immediately mean that you have to give up your trip to
Zakopane or worse, reaching the top! Feel warmly invited to Gubałówka!
Tatra Mountains for begginers
From the city centre, go down
along Krupówki Str. It’s easy to get to Gubałówka from there – the trail is
clearly signed and literally ‘trampled’. To reach the top, you can choose
either a cableway – it won’t take you 5 min. and for the kids it could be an
unforgettable attraction, or you can take a walk – it’s neither long nor tiring
and you should make it in one hour!
On the top, you will be amazed by
the extensive panorama of the Tatra Mountains. Taking a photo with the Giewont
in the background is a must! Later, you can equip yourself with various
souvenirs right from Zakopane: hatchets (don’t forget to buy one!), wooden carvings
of regional and religious people (pl. świątki), pipes, bellies, hats,
jewellery, and little sheep.
If you get hungry, don’t worry!
Every food-lover will find something for them. A few restaurants are quite
prosperous in here. It can be easily assumed that Gubałówka is the most
urbanized and best developed top in Poland.
Longer the walk, bigger the
pleasure
From Gubałówka you can take a
walk to the Butorowy Wierch and along the way admire the amazing panorama of
the Pieniny, Gorce and Beskidy Mountains. In the neighbourhood, what deserves
your attention is a wooden chapel built in style typical for the Podhale
region.
What is more, a ride in a gravity
cableway (ca. 10PLN) could be a memorable event.
If you are interested in longer
trips (4-5h), go to Wita, Chochołów or Poronin villages. You can return to
Zakopane by bus from each of them.
